  2.                  FastEcho Registration - Canada

  5.   I. Introduction
  6.  
  7.      This application  is for  registering FastEcho  by  Canadian
  8. users, whether by credit card or otherwise. All others should re-
  9. fer to the appropriate registration file.
  10.  
  11.      As explained  in the  documentation  accompanying  FastEcho,
  12. there are  two levels  of registration:  a 'point licence', and a
  13. 'node licence'.  The  node  license  includes  full  support  for
  14. AreaFix processing and downlinks; the point license does not.
  15.  
  16.      By registering  FastEcho you  acquire the  right to  use the
  17. programme under  the terms and conditions of the applicable (node
  18. or point)  licence agreement, and will be issued a key which will
  19. enable the programme to operate in registered mode.
  20.  
  21.   II. Registration Fees and Payment
  22.  
  23.      The registration  fees (in  Canadian dollars)  are $32 for a
  24. node license and $20 for a point licence.
  25.  
  26.      You may  register FastEcho  by cheque, money order, or VISA.
  27. Normally, if  you registration  by VISA  or money order, your key
  28. will be  issued immediately  and sent to you as noted below. Pay-
  29. ment by  uncertified cheque  will result  in a  delay  while  the
  30. cheque clears your bank. Please do not send cash.

  32.   III. Sending Your Registration
  33.  
  34.      You may  send your  registration information by conventional
  35. mail, netmail, or by calling the Quantum Leap BBS and registering
  36. on-line. In  each case,  the form in the following section should
  37. be completed and sent.

  54.      You may  send your registration form and VISA information by
  55. netmail to the Quantum Leap BBS at the following addresses:

  57.                FidoNet: 1:340/30, 1:340/31, and 1:340/29
  58.                Note that 1:340/30 is the primary address, and
  59.                while both 1:340/30 and /31 will minimally be
  60.                V.32bis capable, /29 runs beta modems whose
  61.                capabilities differ from time to time.

  66.                Quantum Leap is also a node in both Intelec and
  67.                U'NI-net. Generally, if possible, the FidoNet
  68.                address should be used.

  70.     C. On-Line
  71.  
  72.      Alternatively, you  can register by calling the Quantum Leap
  73. BBS directly  at (604)595-4407  [supporting  up  to  H16/V.32bis]
  74. (604)595-8489 [supporting  up to V.32bis], or (604)595-2553 [this
  75. number will  get a  line  which  minimally  supports    2400  bps
  76. (V.22bis), although it is used to beta test modem hardware and it
  77. may have additional capabilities from time to time :-)]

  79.      The Quantum Leap BBS will allow you to log on under the name
  80. GUEST with  no password. This account will take you to a menu al-
  81. lowing you  to register FastEcho on-line. [While at this time the
  82. system will not process a credit card application and issue a key
  83. while you  are on  line, this will probably be implemented in the
  84. future.]

  86.      Note that the only way to register via netmail or by logging
  87. on to  the BBS  is by using your VISA account. Please ensure that
  88. the VISA portion of the application is complete and accurate (or,
  89. if you  use the  on-line credit  card door, that you provide com-
  90. plete and accurate information).

  92.   IV. Getting your key
  93.  
  94.      If you  register on-line  or via  netmail, leaving  either a
  95. valid netmail  address or  a phone  number for  a system  that is
  96. running an  FTN compatible mailer, your key will be file attached
  97. direct from  the Quantum Leap BBS. If you use a FidoNet node num-
  98. ber, please  ensure that  your node list entry is correct. If you
  99. are in any doubt, check with your NEC.

  101.      If you are not in FidoNet, but are running an FTN compatible
  102. mailer which  will accept incoming messages with file attachments
  103. from systems which are not listed in your local nodelist, you may
  104. indicate your  system telephone  number, and  I will  file attach
  105. your key in a message to your system.

  107.      If you  wish to  obtain your  key from the Quantum Leap BBS,
  108. you may  indicate a   password  in the registration form below. A
  109. user account will be created using that password and your name in
  110. the form  !firstname lastname. [For example, if your name is !Sue
  111. Jones, an  account will  be created with the name !Sue Jones.] If
  112. you log  on using  that name  and the password supplied, your key
  113. will be  automatically down-loaded  to you.  Note that  the  !Sue
  114. Jones account  will have no options or access to the system other
  115. than to automatically download your key. As well, once the key is
  116. successfully down-loaded, the !Sue Jones account will be deleted.
  117.  
  118.      However, a  second account  will be  created under your name
  119. without the  ! character.  (In this  example,  Sue  Jones.)  This
  120. account will allow you conventional access to the BBS, and if you
  121. wish to  obtain product  support and upgrades via BBS access, you
  122. should supply a password.

  147. cheque or  money order, it will be honoured by the bank or insti-
  148. tution   upon which  it is  drawn when presented for payment, and
  149. that if  payment is  by VISA  that I am authorized to charge pur-
  150. chases against that account.

  152.      [Note that you may purchase a key on behalf of someone else:
  153. for example,  a wife might use her credit card to charge a FastE-
  154. cho key  for her husband's use. In this case the name of the hus-
  155. band would  appear directly below, but the name of the wife would
  156. appear in the Cardholder portion of the VISA section.]

  158.      Finally, by  placing this  order I  agree that, for the pur-
  159. poses of  the payment  of the registration fee only, the relevant
  160. law is  the law  of British Columbia, Canada, and in placing this
  161. order I  accept and  consent to the jurisdiction of the Courts of
  162. British Columbia,  Canada with  respect to  any and  all  matters
  163. arising from  the payment  of the registration fee. For all other
  164. purposes I understand and agree that the choice of law provisions
  165. as set forth in the FastEcho licence agreement are determinative.

  268.  
  269.     1. Do not, under any circumstances, send your credit card
  270.         information by  routed netmail.  For obvious reasons,
  271.         such information  should only be sent by direct mail.
  272.         Please ensure  that your  routing  control  file,  or
  273.         other bits  of software or configuration on your sys-
  274.         tem, cannot  result in  routing such a message in any
  275.         way, including  through a  Zone Gate.  Note that many
  276.         mailers will by default route messages which are des-
  277.         tined out  of your  local net.  Again: for  your  own
  278.         protection, all  credit card  information  should  be
  279.         treated with  care. If  you are  in any  doubts about
  280.         your mailer's behaviour, it is advisable to watch the
  281.         message being  sent and  see which number your system
  282.         is actually dialing.

  284.     2. This system  will honour Return Receipt Requests (RRQ)
  285.         flags.

  287.     3. If the  number you  are calling  from to  register via
  288.         credit card is not the number you list as one of your
  289.         system or  voice numbers  in your  application, or if
  290.         you have  caller  ID  information  blocking  enabled,
  291.         please indicate  this in  your netmail  or  while  on
  292.         line.

  294.     4. If you  are not  the  cardholder  against  whose  VISA
  295.         account your order is being charged, (for example, if
  296.         it is  an account  held by  a company, a spouse, or a
  297.         parent), please  ensure  either  that  you  have  the
  298.         authority to charge purchases on the account, or that
  299.         a person  who has  such authority actually places the
  300.         order.

  302.   VI. Support
  303.  
  304.      Having registered FastEcho through the Quantum Leap, you may
  305. always obtain  support from  this system. If you requested a user
  306. account on  the BBS,  that account  will be kept permanently, and
  307. help and  other assistance  will  always  be  available  directly
  308. through the BBS. As well, you can always get help by sending net-
  309. mail to me.

  311.      Finally, if you wish to be placed on the Quantum Leap's Tick
  312. File Echo  distribution list for FastEcho, (Quantum Leap runs the
  313. current beta  release of  AllFix) please  let me  know, including
  314. both a session level password and an AllFix password.
